Help:Country page
From biketrip.org
Editing a country page, to include more info or to initiate it, is no more complicated than editing a page. The only thing we'll insist on is trying to keep a rather common structure for all the country pages. It's really not very complicated, here's how:
Contents |
[edit] What should contain a country page
Here is a list of sections a country page should contain. Of course if you think that a section is missing or that a section is irrelevant for a given country, please act accordingly:
- Where to go
What are the main places to go, your discoveries. You can also write on 'where not to go'...
- Budget
How much are you expected to spend a day for food and accomodation.
- Accomodation
Can you find camping grounds ? Is wild camping allowed? Tolerated? Will people easily host you? Can they do it legally?
- Camping
- Hotels
- Hostels
- Guest houses
Don't hesitate to name nice hotels/guest house/hostels, name also the crappy one!
- Cycle shops
Can you find equipment easily? Are there parts of the country where you won't find anything?
- Roads and orientation
How good are the roads? Can you bike on any roads? Are there roads forbidden to cyclists?
- Cars
What's the attitude towards cyclists? Are they passing you with enough security?
- Cycling rules
Do you need to wear a helmet? A reflective vest? Can you bike on sidewalk?
- Internet Access
How easy is it to access internet?
- Opening hours
Are all shops opened 24/7?
- Food and Water
Can you find food and water easily? Are there parts where it will be difficult to find it?
And so on and so on. As you see it's pretty simple and straight forward informations but it will come in handy one day!
[edit] Templates
Most of the information above is simple text. For a couple of sections, there are templates you can use to display the information:
[edit] Available roads
This template display the roads available and forbidden to cyclists. The template should already be present in the country page you're editing, just enter the information in between the | signs./
[edit] Cycling rules
This template display the most common cycling rules, just enter yes or no after the egal sign = to display the relevant information. These informations are automatically gathered on each page, have a look at the helmet page for example.
This template is not present on every page, to include it, simply enter the following text:
{{Cycling_Rules |helmet=no |vest=yes |lights=yes |reflectors=yes |bell=no |sidewalk=no }}
[edit] Examples
You can have a look at the page for France, Germany, Malaysia or Indonesia for inspiration.
